  Previously attributed to Joseph Fowles after comparison with his 'Sydney in 1848', however at least one watercolour "Government House" (now separated from the album) is now thought to have been by Frederick Garling (ML 70). Others bear a close resemblance to drawings by "J.B 1840" in the Richard Jones scrap album (PXA 972). It seems unlikely that Fowles is the artist of these drawings -- Curator, Mitchell Library, 2003
