    George Horan, an engineer of Glebe, N.S.W., was born in Bathurst, N.S.W. and enlisted at the age of 22 in Sydney, 28 Aug. 1914. He embarked from Sydney on board Transport A8 Argyllshire on 18 October 1914. He served with the First Division Artillery, A.I.F. in Egypt, Gallipoli, Greece, France, Belgium and England. He received the Military Medal for Gallantry and devotion to duty at Pozieres, 1916 and returned to Australia on the Port Hacking, 3 Dec. 1918. His brother, Richard Joseph Horan and uncle, George Richard Horan were both killed in action in 1915
