Roy Richards, a clerk of Homebush, Sydney, New South Wales enlisted aged 21 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Ceramic, 25 June 1915. He served with the 19th Battalion, 5th Australian Machine Gun Company, A.I.F. in Egypt, the Dardanelles, France and Belgium. He was wounded, 6 Nov. 1916 and died 26 Nov. 1916 - Scope and ContentIncludes letters to members of his family, 4 Mar. 1915 - 16 Nov. 1916, letters of condolence following his death, 22 Nov. 1916 - 18 Feb. 1917 and notes from his diary, 15 Aug. 1915 - 17 Nov. 1916, evidently compiled by a member of his family
