  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Corporal Oscar Rhodes, a journalist of Campsie, Sydney, New South Wales, was born in Ultimo, Sydney and enlisted at Liverpool aged 27, on 29 Apr. 1915. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A35 Berrima, 25 June 1915 and served as a signaller with the 20th Battalion in Egypt, Gallipoli and France. He was wounded with loss of his left leg at Butte de Warlencourt, France, 25 Feb. 1917 and discharged as medically unfit, Sydney, 13 August 1918
