  The members of the Committee appointed by the Sydney City and Suburban Sewage and Health Board consisted of the Hon. John Smith (Chairman), Messrs. Palmer, Chapman, Dansey, and Read. Two sub-committes - No.1: R.B. Read, Esq., & Mr. Alderman Chapman, and No.2: B. Palmer Esq. (Mayor of Sydney), & G.F. Dansey, Esq. carried out the inspections.

  The inscriptions on the photograph mounts indicate they were clearly taken to illustrate the report but do not appear to have been reproduced.
  The photographer of this series does not appear to be mentioned in the report. They may have been taken by No.1 Sub-Committee, possibly Reginald Bligh Read, M.R.C.S., before he resigned in February 1876 to go to England.
