- Physical DescriptionDrawings - 1 watercolour on ivory, in gold oval shaped frame with glass front and loop at top for hanging. The reverse holds two locks of dark brown hair, bound with gold thread and seed pearl binding - and a translucent blue enamel reserve with seed pearl border and monogram "WC" in seed pearls; all on an opalescent glass ground over patterned foil with gold thread decoration. Stored in original red straight grained morocco fitted case with cream satin lining, hinge at center left, and metal hook and eyelet for fastening. ; 6 x 5 cm. (portrait, sight) 6.7 x 5.6 (frame) - 1.4 cm. (loop), 7.5 x 6.8 cm. (case)

William Cox joined the New South Wales Corps in 1797 as lieutenant and was appointed Paymaster before he left for Australia. He arrived in Sydney on 11 January 1800.
