Simeon Henry Pearce (1821-1886) was the inaugural mayor of Randwick, following its incorporation in 1859. He was again mayor in 1866-1868 and 1882. He supported the building of the Randwick Asylum for the Relief of Destitute Children in 1856 and was a founding director and sometime president of the board. He visited his birthplace in England in 1881 - Scope and ContentIlluminated address presented to Simeon Pearce by the directors of the Society for the Relief of Destitute Children on the occasion of his departure for England. The address includes a coloured drawing of the Randwick Asylum for the Relief of Destitute Children. The artist's inscription is G. Relph (Call No.: MLMSS 6395)
