    1-2. [Corroboree, 1895 / William Livermore of the Star Photo Co.] See album of photographs belonging to E.C. Platt at PXA 763 (vol.1). The Clarence and Richmond Examiner, 23 Nov 1895 (p.4) gives an account of the corroboree and gives the location as Macnaughton's paddock, Maclean, N.S.W.

  • General note

    The photographs by F.C. Currey were taken during his tenure as teacher and supervisor of a school for Aborigines near Grafton, N.S.W. ca.1898. The scenes depicted were `staged' at the request of Currey. -- Information from donor, ML 1989/96
    Three of Currey's photographs are reproduced in the supplement to the Australasian Photographic Review, 21 September 1898 (ML Q 770.5/A), including the scene representing an Aboriginal funeral.
