  PORTRAIT OF THE MAYOR - A striking half-likeness, life size, of his Worship the Mayor (Walter Renny, Esq.) is on view, at the studio of Mr. Pickering, the photographer, Brickfield-hill. It is apparently taken by the solar process, and carefully finished in oils. His Worship is represented in the costume of his office, the details of which are accurately carried out. The ex-
  pression of his features has been caught very happily by the painter, and in the execution of other essentials, such as the hands, that regulate in a remarkable degree the claims of portraits of this character to excellence, the skill of the artist, with the assistance of Phoebus, is very signally displayed. There is also on view a clever cabinet portrait of Alderman Steel.
