- General note
"Taken as a news assignment for the Labour Daily. To cover street accidents and similar assignments, it was necessary that the photographer climb to some vantage point. This was mainly due to the fact that press cameras of the day were 1/2 plate, 4" x 5" or 1/4 plate size and were of the reflex (Graflex) type which meant the taking angle of the press cameras did not come into general use by Australian newspaper photographers until the middle thirties, although they were in general use in England and the continent as early as 1920. News photographers in the USA changed over to eye level cameras about 1935.": (Ted Hood)
