    The 1937 Anzac Day parade, with 22,000 servicemen, was one of the largest held in Sydney before World War II. Allied ex-servicemen, including British and Dominion troops, French, Italian, Greek and Russian returned soldiers marched behind the AIF contingent. Italian ex-servicemen gave a fascist salute at the Cenotaph in Martin Place. -- A.Davies, Curator of Photographs (July 2006)
