Correspondence, being letters received by Thomas Hassall, 1816-1828; manuscript copies and draft copies of letters sent by Thomas Hassall, ca.1817-1824; letters received by Ann Hassall (2), ca. 1826; and letters received by James S. Hassall, 1850-1866.
Thomas Hassall correspondence includes: letters received from Rowland Hassall (1), n.d.; letters received from Ann Hassall (2), n.d.; letters received from Lucy Hassall, 1822; and letters received from Samuel O. Hassall (77), 1816-1828. Letters from Samuel O. Hassall include detailed news of family and friends and of business matters concerning the running of family properties. Early letters were written while Thomas was studying at Lampeter, Wales, and visiting England, and later letters were mainly written from Samuel O. Hassall's home 'Macquarie Grove'. Copies of letters sent include mainly unsigned draft letters, some marked 'not sent', to various family members and friends while Thomas was overseas.
James S.
