- Scope and Content1 commemorative medallion issued for the voyage of the Astrolabe, 1837. The medallion is cast in copper or bronze. The obverse depicts the bust of Louis Philippe I and the reverse makes detailed textual reference to the 1837 voyage of L'Astrolabe and the Zelee under the command of M. Dumont D'Urville. It is hand engraved 'P. Seurin' on its edge.
The medallion is housed in a round wooden presentation frame with metal hanger, lined in russet velvet as a recessed medallion bed. - Access Conditions
