- Scope and ContentThe perspective of this drawing looks northward from the corner of what is now Park Street and College Street, Sydney. In the foreground is the line of College Street with the fenced, cleared area of the Race Course (Hyde Park) to its left and another empty area to the right where St Mary's Cathedral now stands. In the distance is St James Church, Hyde Park Barracks, the Supreme Court building, and other buildings in the vicinity of Elizabeth and Macquarie Street.

These include people in and around the race course; a horse drawn vehicle travelling along the main road and a Norfolk Pine at the end of the road.
