Henry George Parkes, a coachtrimmer of Enfield, New South Wales was born in Monaro and enlisted in the A.I.F. aged 27, 14 Sept. 1916. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A19 Afric on 3 November 1916 and served with the 59th Battalion, 7th Reinforcement in France. He returned to Australia on HT Port Lyttelton, 10 June 1919. His sister Florence Anna married Philip Toms, the son of Francis Philip Toms. - Scope and ContentLetters and postcards from Harry Parkes to his sister Florence Anna Toms née Parkes, written from camp in Goulburn and France, 30 September 1916-7 August 1919.
