  Diary in the form of a letter written to his mother describing events at Mudros, events in camp and in the trenches, arrival in France in Mar. 1916, conditions in the trenches near Armentieres, gas attacks, the raid on the 20th Battalion, being wounded, recuperation in England then return to the front line with the 13th and the 18th Battalions and hospitalisation with trench fever, Aug. 1917.
