- Scope and ContentThe author states that he was convicted at Shrewsbury in 1831 for writing threatening letters and sentenced to 14 years transportation. He was re-convicted at Maitland Quarter Sessions in 1836 for forgery and sentenced to Norfolk Island for life. He gives details of the treatment of the convicts and contrasts the social system introduced by Captain A. Maconochie at Norfolk Island with that of coercion used elsewhere.
