  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Thomas Cotgrave Hewitt, a science master of Toowoomba, Queensland enlisted in the AIF on 17 April 1915 and served as Captain with the 26th Battalion at Gallipoli and in France, where he was killed in action, 29 July 1916.

    Gunner Hubert Deane Hewitt, cattle station manager of Bundaberg, Queensland, joined the AIF on 4 August 1915. He served with the 5th Light Horse Regiment and the 53rd Battalion in Egypt and France, where he was wounded in October 1917. He returned to Australia on 16 December 1917.
