    Captain A. H. Smith, clerk of Castlemaine, Victoria, aged 26, embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A27 Southern, 20 Oct. 1914 with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade, A.I.F. He served in Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Belgium. In 1919 he served on S.S. Willochra, repatriating prisoners of war and returned to Australia 23 Sept. 1919
