    Sapper Thomas Taylor, a postal official of Moss Vale, New South Wales enlisted in the 30th Infantry Battalion in January 1916 aged 19 years and sailed for Egypt 9 April 1916 on HMAT Nestor. He was transferred to the 5th Division Signal Company in September 1916 and served in France and Belgium August 1916-April 1919, returning to Australia on HT Durham, 22 May 1919
  • Scope and Content
    Diary describes in narrative form the journey from Sydney to Egypt, camp life in Egypt and England, trench warfare in France and Belgium, including descriptions of actions at Montauban, Bapaume, Bullecourt, Ypres and Villers-Bretonneux and including training and operations as a wireless operator
