Sergeant William Charles Watson, a clerk of Burrum, Queensland enlisted aged 25 years, 16 Aug. 1915 and embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A62 Wandilla, 31 Jan. 1916. He served with the 31st Battalion and 7th Field Ambulance in the Abbeville, Amiens and Somme areas of France in 1917. He was wounded in France, 28 Nov. 1916 and returned to Australia on hospital ship Karoola, 6 Sept. 1918 - Scope and ContentNarrative describing life in the trenches under fire, including a period as a despatch runner
