    Ambrose O'Hare, butler-valet, of Brookvale, New South Wales was born in Liverpool, England and served 12 years with the North Lancashire regiment and 6 months with the 1st Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force in New Guinea Aug. 1914-Feb. 1915. He re-enlisted aged 38 in A Coy 19th Battalion, 5th Infantry Brigade, 20 April 1915 and sailed on the Ceramic on 25th June for Gallipoli. O'Hare saw action at Gallipoli and in France and was promoted to sergeant. He was hospitalised with trench fever, Apr. 1918 and invalided to Australia on SS Medic, 24 Aug. 1918
