    Private F. T. Makinson, a solicitor's managing clerk of Neutral Bay, Sydney was born in Ashfield, Sydney, enlisted at the age of 35 at Roseberry Park Racecourse on 14 Sept. 1914 and embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on Transport A38 Ulysses, 22 Dec. 1914. He served in the 13th Battalion, 4th Brigade of the A.I.F. at Gallipoli 26 Apr.-18 Dec. 1915 and was evacuated to Sandy Bay in Egypt 3 Jan. 1916 before departing for France, June 1916. He was killed in action in France, 29 Aug. 1916
