  • Scope and Content
    Included in the set are portraits of Richard Bourke's father, John (upper left), his sister (upper right), his bride Elizabeth (centre), Richard (lower left), and his mother Anne (lower right); painted on the occasion of Richard Bourke's marriage in 1800.

    The miniature of Richard Bourke is inscribed in ink on backing 'By Will Wood of Cork Street London'. None of the others is signed, dated or titled.

    On backing sheet of miniature of Elizabeth is written in pencil 'Bourke Thornfulds [sic] Lisnagry Co. Limerick', in unknown hand.

    Frames encircling miniatures are of metal within upper surrounds of brass with traces of gilt; mounted on velvet within wooden frame.

    Dated and identified from information provided by Gerard Bourke, the former owner and great-great-grandson of Richard Bourke.
  • Conservation note

    Miniatures removed from frame and placed in mounts, October 2012. Frame stored in same box.
