    Charles Abbott, a mounted constable of Wingen, New South Wales was born in Sydney in May 1886. He enlisted 23 March 1915 aged 28 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A29 Suevic, 13 June 1915. During WWI he served with the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force in the Pacific Islands and with the Twelfth Light Horse in Gallipoli, Palestine and Syria. He was promoted captain, 20 May 1918

    Narrative account of the journey from Tel-Aviv_Jaffa to Homs, Syria via Licktera, Lejun, Kuneitra and Damascus. Includes photocopy of the Abbott family tree compiled by Terence Kingsmill Abbott, 1971
