Edna Ryan (1904-1997), feminist and trade unionist, was a foundation member of the Women's Electoral Lobby, and campaigned for the introduction of equal pay for women, maternity leave and work-based child care. In 1975 she co-wrote, with Anne Conlon, her first book, The Gentle Invaders: Australian Women at Work 1788-1974.
