- Scope and ContentIn the first letter Riou asks the Lords of the Admiralty to recognise the meritorious conduct of 14 named members of Guardian's crew and also the services of the former master of the Bounty, John Fryer, after the Guardian had reached the Cape of Good Hope. In the second letter he exonerates the ship's master, Thomas Clements, from any blame in abandoning the Guardian after it struck the iceberg.
