  • General note

The drawings by W.Curtis complement similar drawings which illustrate 'Diary of a geological and mineralogical survey of the Colony of New South Wales during the years 1850, 1851, 1852, 1853 by Samuel Stutchbury, Geologist to the Colonial Government' at A2639. The drawings of orchids by 'T.H' are probably by the Thomas Harford mentioned in the diary as they are in similar style and the titles of some are in same hand.
  • Signatures / Inscriptions

Of the drawings in the style of W. Curtis, 11 are signed. All are titled either on paper mount or on drawing. 11 are dated, '1852' or '1853'. A number of the watercolour drawings of orchids are signed 'T.H. 1854' and one of a Moreton Bay Figtree is signed 'T.H. 1852''. Most of these are titled.
