  • General note

This image depicts the original hotel, built by Trindall, on the coaching route from Gunnedah to Walgett. The hotel was established when Morpeth, near Maitland, was the rail head of the North West railway. It was a mail change for Cobb & Co. on their daily service between Narrabri and Walgett.

The original hotel burnt down around 1900. The replacement hotel still stands and is reputedly the second oldest licensed hotel in Australia.
