    ‘Conrad Martens Sketches’ – Cover.
    Bookplate of ‘Sir William Dixson’ – Inside front cover.
    Robert Thomas Carter was an art dealer who purchased many drawings by Martens. He often added his own pencil inscriptions to the drawings, usually details about locations and prices. The majority were sold to David Scott Mitchell and William Dixson. (Conrad Martens : life & art / Elizabeth Ellis, p.88)
