  • General note

Similar to two aquatints views engraved by Clark, published by Booth in 1810 after Eyre’s original drawing.

“Below the second government or military mill stands the white gaol and a little to the right, Isaac Nichols’ new T-shaped warehouse in front of his new two storeyed house. His previous house with the saltbox roof, still stands next to Hospital Wharf. The old portable hospital is becoming hidden by later buildings, and above it stands the third government windmill. Back on the shoreline, Bayly’s house stands next to Campbell’s mercantile complex, the warehouse much extended. Dawes Battery below the flagstaff protects the Cove” -- First Views of Australia / Tim McCormick, Sydney : David Ell Press, 1987, pl. 93, pg.127
