    The arrangement of the album is partially reconstructed from a facsimile album accompanying the acquisition, comprising colour photographs mounted on new leaves in the original album binding (PXD 1008/vol 4)

    The album consists mostly of watercolours and drawings dating from after Wallis's retirement from the army in 1826, and given by Wallis's widow to his nephew, Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Tayler in 1866
    f.2: titled in ink on label, now loose, previously affixed to album page. Signed and dated in ink on portion cut from album page "Major J Wallis 46th Regt. 1821" ("Major" and "46th Regt." appearing to be additions). Grid drawn lightly in pencil throughout view
    f.3: title from label not in the collection, seen affixed to album page in photographic facsimile of album (PXD 1008/vol 4). Signed and dated in ink on portion cut from album page "Sketched in 1847 by Major Wallis 46 Regt." ("46 Regt." appearing to be an addition)
    f.4: titled in ink on label, now loose, previously affixed to album page.     f.17 is an unfinished wash drawing. It is not seen in the photographic facsimile of the album (PXD 1008/vol 4). It is catalogued with this album because it shares similar dimensions with other drawings in this album. Marks left by dried paste and the lifting of paper from the surface suggests that this leaf may have been used as a backing for another drawing. Paper watermarked "Smith & Allnutt 1838"
