    Unsigned, inscription on back reads 'Mrs Cooper, painted by R. Read, no. 89 Pitt St, Sydney, New South Wales, April 1833'
  • Attributions / conjectures

    There are three Mrs Cooper's in the 1828 census:
    1. Sarah May married Robert Cooper Snr (the distiller) of Juniper Hall, South Head Rd. in 1822. Sarah Cooper (1802-1863) was his third wife
    2. Charlotte, wife of Henry Cooper, architect, Darling Harbour. In 1828 she was 32.
    3. Mrs Mary Cooper who owned and let a house in Cumberland St.

    By 1833 there may have been others, eg. Mrs Thomas Cooper, mother of Sir Daniel, arrived by George Canning on Dec. 23 1828, or, Miss Rutter married to Robert Cooper Jnr in 1830
