    The Commission was appointed on 22nd January 1867 by Governor John Young. The bushrangers referred to were the Clarkes, Connells and others.
  • Scope and Content
    This first Royal Commission established in 1867, consisted of P.L. Cloete, J.S. Richardson, D.H. Campbell, J. Leary and E. Fosbery who were appointed to enquire into `the conduct of the Magistrates and Police with reference to the crime of bushranging in the district of Braidwood and surrounding country .. to inquire into the state of the population in relation to the existence and encourgement of crime, more especially in the neighbourhood of Jingera'
