The Sydney Woman's Christian Temperance Union was founded in 1882. With the decision in 1884 to extend the areas of involvement, other local Unions were started in suburbs of Sydney as well as in country areas of N.S.W. In 1890, a Colonial Union was formed to embrace the whole of N.S.W., to be known as the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of N.S.W. The Local Union, however, was to remain as the important unit of power. The W.C.T.U. of A.C.T. was incorporated into the W.C.T.U. of N.S.W. in 1965.
  • Scope and Content
Include records of the local Unions as well as those of the N.S.W. Executive and minutes of the Band of Hope Union, 1942-1946, and the Good Film and Radio Vigilance League of N.S.W., 1945-1955.
