The Women's Literary society was formed in August 1890 by 13 women who met at Mrs Gullett's house at the suggestion of founder Mrs Matilda Susanna Curnow. In 1893 there were 130 members. Members included Mrs Wolstenholme (Maybanke Anderson), Rose Scott, Margaret Windeyer, Edith McKenny and Georgina King. - Scope and Content15 Aug. 1892 - Aug. 1893; Minutes of the 49th to the 70th meeting. Minutes record discussions on a range of literary and other topics including George Eliot, Thomas Carlyle, socialism, and working women. Includes annual reports for 1893 and 1896.
