The date and attribution are derived from comparison with W.H. Fernyhough's, "A series of twelve profile portraits ..." Sydney: J.G. Austin & Co. No.12 Bridge Street, 1836 (Mitchell Library Q 572.991/1A1-5 and Dixson Library Q 83/44-48) from which these drawings appear to be based, though some of the titles and details differ.
Other drawings of Nos. 2-6 are located at SAFE/PXA 615 Mitchell Library.
Affixed inside lid of presentation box is a paper label, "A.H. Spencer Pty. Ltd. / New Secondhand, and Rare / Booksellers / 86 Bourke St., Melbourne ..."
