    Walter Warneford, a soldier of Randwick, New South Wales was born in Liverpool, England in 1888 and enlisted in the AIF at the age of 31, 26 Sept. 1914. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A16 Star Of Victoria, 20 Oct. 1914 and served at Gallipoli with the 1st Light Horse Regiment, transferring to General Birdwood's staff May 1915 and then to the 53rd Battalion, 1916. He returned to Australia on the Ascanius, 28 Dec. 1916

    1. Operation Order No. 1 by Lieut. Col. W. W. Russell Watson relating to the Australian Naval & Military Expedition to New Guinea, 10 September 1914.
    2. Original note taken at the time of Bimbashi Kemal Bey's visit to Anzac on 21 May 1915 to arrange the Armistice.
    3. Copy of a Proclamation to the Anglo-French Expeditionary Forces dropped from a Turkish biplane on 25 June 1915.
    4. Copy of a general letter from General William Birdwood to his troops in the event of a big Turkish attack, 1915.
