  On 15 February 2004, a riot took place in The Block between NSW Police & local Aboriginal residents. The riot began after the death of a young Aboriginal man, 17 year old Thomas "TJ" Hickey. Hickey had a fatal bicycle accident, allegedly the result of a police pursuit. These photographs show The Block before the riot and afterwards, when certain areas were demolished
