  Drawings - 1 watercolour on ivory miniature in rectangular japanned wooden frame, black in colour with raised gold coloured inner edge decorated leaf pattern, rectangular glass front, and a metal clasp shaped like a leaf with two metal loops at centre top of frame to assist with hanging. - 7.5 x 6 cm. portrait, inside frame (sight) - 14.5 x 12.8 cm. (frame)

  The child in this portrait wears a cotton undergown beneath a sheer muslin dress with ruffled neckline and drawstring waist.

• General note
  
  Lachlan Macquarie, the Younger was born on 29 March 1814. This miniature depicts him aged 3-4 years old.
  
  This miniature, and two miniatures of his parents (MIN 236 and MIN 237) were gifts from Lachlan Macquarie to Captain John Cliffe Watts, of the 46th Regiment, Macquaire's aide-de-camp from 1814-1819.
  
  A note about the provenance of this miniature is located at PXn 52.
  
  This frame is similar to those used for the miniatures of Lachlan Macquarie (MIN 236) and Elizabeth Macquarie (MIN 237).
