Rose Scott was one of Australia's most celebrated feminists. From 1891 to 1902 she was secretary of the Womanhood Suffrage League of New South Wales. She also founded the Women's Political Educational League and was president of the National Council of Women. - Scope and ContentJournal kept by Rose Scott between 7 October 1889 and 17 December 1893. On the inside of the front cover is written: 'Days & Strengths in a Womans Life'. Also included are a number of miscellaneous pages which were found interleaved throughout the journal.

- General note
The journal is unnamed but was identified as Rose Scott's by comparing the handwriting with known examples of her handwriting in the Mitchell Library and by reason of the fact that one of the loose pages bears her signature.
Reference is made to this journal being part of Rose Scott's papers held by the Mitchell Library in 'Women in Australia', ed. Kay Daniels and others, 1977. It is probable that the journal was part of of the Scott family papers (MLMSS 38) received by the Library from the estate of Rose Scott in 1925 and became separated from them some time after 1977.
The journal was copied onto preservation microfilm in Jan. 2004.
The bulk of Rose Scott's papers are located at MLMSS 38/20X, 21-31, 32X and A2271-A2284.
