    Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968) is best known as a poet, the author of 'My Country', first published in 1908 under the title 'Core of My Heart'. She also wrote three novels.

    Notebook (139 pp.) with Dorothea Mackellar's printed bookplate on the inside cover. Draft verses include 'Core of My Heart', 'Magic', 'The Judges' and 'Thalassa'.

    This item has been boxed in a clamshell box with spine title "Dorothea Mackellar Verses 1907-1908". Another item with the same location number is boxed in a slip case with spine title "Australia's Love Song and Other Verses by Dorothea Mackellar OBE." Both items form part of the Mackellar Family Papers (MLMSS 1959).
    Formerly located at MLMSS 1959 ADD-ON 1256 Box 1(4).
    A preservation microfilm copy of the complete volume 'Australia's Love Song and Other Verses' (Safe 1/117 Item 1: microfilm CY 1395), was made Feb. 1989.
    Filmed on the same microfilm reel (CY 1395, frames 80-127) is another work by Dorothy Mackellar: 'The Closed Door and Other Verses', Melb., 1911 (Safe 1/117, Item 2).
