  On the basis of the inscription upon its reverse, this drawing is has been said to be by Charles Marsh. However a stylistic comparison with works by Jacob Janssen (1779-1856) suggests that he may be the artist. Watercolours such as Oxford Street" (ML 62) and copy slides of Janssen works in a private collection (FM5/186, 187 & 188) are very close to this watercolour in their technique and handling: Manager, Original Materials Branch, 2003.
