"Percy Gresser [1892-1969] was a Bathurst shearer and amateur historian who spent his life researching Aboriginal culture and history and collecting Aboriginal weapons and stone implements ... During his travels [as a shearer] he collected and recorded more than 6000 aboriginal stone axes, spearheads and other implements. On retiring in 1963, he presented his collection to the Australian Museum, Sydney ... Percy talked with both Aboriginal people and white settlers to document sites and stories of the early massacres and the war of resistance led by Windradyne in the Bathurst region ... His history, co-authored by T Salisbury, and titled Windradyne of the Wiradjuri. Martial Law at Bathurst in 1924, was published after his death by Wentworth Books in 1971." -- River Dreaming Festival, Bathurst, NSW, 2007 website: http://www.riverdreaming.com.au/site.php?id=138
