    Reverand James S. H. Royce was born at Chilham, England in 1829, he entered the ministry of the Wesleyan Church in 1854. In 1855 he was appointed to Fiji as a missionary: ill health forced him to remove to Australia in 1861, where he worked in Victoria and Tasmania. He died in 1907
  • Scope and Content
    a. Diary, 18 Nov. 1855 - 5 Apr. 1962 Describes voyage from England on the Nimrod, work in Melbourne, voyage to Tonga and Fiji on the John Wesley; five years missionary work in Fiji, including establishment of station on Kanavu, voyage to Sydney on the Yarra and beginning of work in Australia.
    b. Draft of an account of missionary work in the South Seas, particularly the Wesleyan Mission in Polynesia. Unfinished.
    c. Miscellaneous papers, 1855-1903, being letters and map
