    Charles Alwyne, born in Glasgow Scotland, enlisted in Sydney with the 2nd Battalion B Company 3 Sept. 1914 and embarked on HMAT A23 Suffolk 18 Oct. 1914. He was wounded at Gallipoli 17 May 1915 and returned to Australia on the Aeneas 31 Oct. 1915. He was discharged in June 1916 and later served in Rabaul, 1917-1919
