  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Samuel Otoo Hassall (1796-1830), son of Rowland and Elizabeth Hassall, received a land grant in 1818 at O'Connell Plains near Bathurst, which he named 'Milford Vale'. After his marriage to Lucy Mileham (1799-1882) in 1819, Samuel and Lucy Hassall lived mainly at 'Macquarie Grove', a property owned by his father and located on the Nepean River at Camden. Samuel Hassall died at 'Macquarie Grove' in 1830 and in 1833 his wife married John James Howell.

    ITEM 1

    Agreement, being a signed and witnessed agreement between Lucy Hassall, as Executrix of the estate of the late Samuel Otoo Hassall on one part, and Thomas Peasenell [sic] on the other, concerning the lease of twenty acres of land, part of the land known as 'Milford Vale' at Bathurst. Signed by Lucy Hassall and Thomas Peesnell [sic], dated 22 November 1830. MLDOC 3825/a (Microfilm: CY 4137, frames 230-235).

    Articles of Agreement, being a signed and witnessed agreement between Thomas Hassall, James Hassall, William Shelley and Lucy Howell (previously Lucy Hassall), acting as Executors and Executrix in the estate of the late Samuel Otoo Hassall on one part, and Arthur Kemmis on the other, concerning the lease of eight hundred acres of land, known as 'Milford Vale' at Bathurst. Signed by all parties and dated 16 May 1834. MLDOC 3825/b (Microfilm: CY 4137, frames 236-242).
