  • General note

    These are probably the glass stereographs shown by Dalton at the second photographic exhibition of the Philosophical Society of NSW in Dec 1859 (see Sydney Morning Herald 22/12/1859). Dalton had also advertised 'transparent' stereoscopic photographs in January of 1859.

    The stereographs were formerly in the collection of photographic historian Keast Burke and are mentioned by him in Keast Burke "Photographs and photographic equipment as a field for the collector" The Australasian Antique Collector no.11 1971 (ML Q708.005/1)
