  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    A portrait of Anna Elizabeth (1804-1889), second daughter of John Blaxland, who emigrated with his family to NSW in 1807 and became one of the colony's largest land-holders and entrepreneurs in the colony. In 1823 Anna married Thomas Walker, who owned properties in NSW and northern Tasmania.

    A non-contemporaneous handwritten note pasted on back of canvas reads, "Anna Elizabeth Walker, 2nd daughter of John Blaxland Esquire of Newington, Parramatta River - also late of Newington 2 Luddenham Court XX Kent - , married Thomas Walker - T [?]ACG - of Rhodes Parramatta River - also Rhodes Tasmania".
