  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Christine Wallace (1960-), Australian political journalist and biographer, is the author of the unauthorized biography of Germaine Greer, ‘Greer, Untamed Shrew’. She has degrees in politics and history from the Australian National University, and an economics from the University of Sydney. After a decade of political and economic journalism in the Canberra Press Gallery, she became a full-time writer in Sydney following the 1996 election. In 1993, she wrote her first book, critically acclaimed biography of former Liberal Leader John Hewson. Her biography of Germaine Greer was her second book.

    Draft typescript of Chapter 1, ‘Misogyny begins at home’, with letter from editor Jennifer Dabbs, ca. 1996, and floppy disk. Disk contains three files in Microsoft Word for Mac format titled "forematter", "greer text final" and "copyrt". “Greer text final” contains the text of the full biography but differs in some minor details to the published Macmillan edition of 'Greer, untamed shrew'. It is also not paginated and does not include the end notes and index found in the published book. The file called “Forematter” is lacking a paragraph about permissions obtained from various people to quote from their work.
